Video game nerds rejoiced last month as RetroWorld Expo made its return to the Connecticut Convention Center. Celebrating the last 40 years of pop culture and gaming, this Connecticut-based organization made its annual splash in downtown Hartford attracting droves of gamers and fans of nostalgia from all walks of life.
The event had something for everyone including vendors, special guests and panels, tournaments, tabletop games, old school gaming systems, and classic arcade games and pinball. Attendees were even treated to live wrestling courtesy of Blitzkrieg Pro Wrestling.
While we were there, ICE Media caught up with Manchester student Drew Conklin.
“I like RetroWorld because basically I like not being the biggest nerd in the room, you know what I mean?” Conklin said. “A lot of times I feel a little too nerdy for my own good. Then I come here, and I know I’m not, and I’m in the right place. Plus, it’s Retro World! It’s everything I grew up with. What’s not to like?”
And there truly is so much to love at RetroWorld Expo, and 2023 was a huge success! Whether you’re a hardcore gamer or just seeking a special taste of nostalgia, Retro World offers a fun and welcoming community to all.
