About Kieran
What is your name?: I’m Kieran.
What are your pronouns?: I go by he/they.
What career path are you working towards?: I’m hoping to be a musician full-time as far as careers go. I’ve already gotten some opportunities to play some gigs at various places, and I do open mics at even more places. Even if I end up just working at a recording studio or Guitar Center or something until a music career kicks off, that’d be cool.
About Kieran’s Music
How long have you been doing music?: I’ve been doing music as long as I can remember, but it’s been more of a side-hobby until about two years ago, when I picked up the guitar.
What is the inspiration behind your music?: My Dad played guitar and bass, and I was lucky enough to get his ear, so I decided I wanted to do music too.
What inclined you to start performing on campus at CT State Manchester?: As far as playing on-campus goes, I really just wanted to make some friends and meet other musicians. I play open mics all around the area (I play Urban Lodge every Wednesday around 8 p.m. and Carmine’s in East Hartford every Thursday around 9 p.m.), and I’ve met a lot of cool people there, but they’re all folks who have been in the biz for a while, and the youngest of them are at least 15 years older than me. I write a lot of originals, and I’m on Spotify, Apple Music, and all that under Midnight Stride, but I mostly play covers when I’m playing out.
On September 16, a fire alarm went off in the Student Services Center building leading students, staff and faculty to evacuate the building and gather in the campus Village. Kieran was asked to play something and readily performed a cover of “Wheels” by Foo Fighters (see video above). Everyone cheered at the end of the impromptu concert.
Kieran’s Favorite Band: Boston
In 10 years Kieran sees himself on stage somewhere. His goal is to make it as an artist one day with a viral song. And the Manchester community can say they knew him at the start!
