Remember Kel Mitchell’s and Kenan Thompson’s famous “Welcome to the Good Burger, Home of the Good Burger, Can I take your order?” from 1997?
Well, it and more nostalgic music and entertainment from that decade were front and center at 90’s Con at the Connecticut Convention Center March 28 – 30 in Hartford.
The Convention featured a variety of celebrity appearances, along with vendors selling merchandise from the 90s. There was also live tattooing and a variety of food options throughout the venue. Hundreds of fans lined up to see one of their childhood celebrities.
One of the fans spoke about loving the vibe and feeling like a “teenager” again.

So many celebrities attended the event, including Mitchell, Rider Strong of the TV sitcom “Boy Meets World,” Jennie Garth of TV’s “Beverly Hills, 90210” and Skeet Ulrich, Rose McGowan and David Arquette of the “Scream” movies.
I volunteered for the convention, put on by That’s 4 Entertainment, a national event company that puts on 90s Con and Christmas Con events across the country. I found the experience very informative and educational at the same time. Getting to help with coordinating the lines before going into the convention or helping people find ATMs or just where certain things were at in the convention added more and more to the experience.
“Scream” fans – including myself – came from all over the country to get memorabilia signed and photos taken paying hundreds of dollars to experience “fangirling” up close and personal.
Arquette was one of the actors I was lucky enough to interact with the most. He was very humble, kind to his fans, and extremely patient.
Seeing so much plaid in one place made it obvious why the 90’s are missed. Smiles and more smiles were all around, even from the younger generation, which gave the convention good energy and excitement.
I highly recommended you try being a part of it at least once in a lifetime.
